Many companies and businesses offer School Leavers Programmes and Apprenticeships which are a fantastic alternative to university.  Below are links to some of these as well as resources to help anyone who is searching for a work-based alternative to higher education.

Unifrog's excellent Apprenticeship tool allows students to search through a vast database of Apprenticeships & School Leavers Programmes and also contains lots of information to support students with their applications.

The Careers Wales website contains a wealth of information and resources to help students plan their next steps after sixth form.  It also allows students to search for vacancies online, via a database which updates every 24 hours.

A superb website and Twitter site which publishes links to the latest apprenticeship and school leaver programmes

SACU offers a range of careers resources (including the excellent SPARTAN test) to support, students, teachers and parents. The SPARTAN test is an amazing free tool which gets students to select pictures which best suits their personality, interests, etc and by personality profiling matches them to different career pathways. Students are then able to research these careers using a wealth of resources.

This fantastic website allows students to search for the latest apprenticeship and school leavers schemes as well offering support and guidance.

The University of South Wales's Network 75 Programme offers a combined work and study route to a degree.

KPMG offer a number of programmes for school leavers in the accountancy and business sectors.

Airbus offer 3 year and 5 year apprenticeship programmes in the aerospace industry which combine college or university study with practical training.

Deloitte's BrightSparks Higher Apprenticeship Scheme offers applicants an opportunity to work in a variety of business sectors to acquire professional qualifications leading to a permanent job.

Grant Thornton offers a 5 year programme where applicants work within the business sector to gain professional qualifications.

The Channel 4 Apprenticeship Programme (4 Talent) offer applicants to complete qualifications whilst earning a salary. 

Leonardo offer a range of business and engineering apprenticeships across the UK

The Careers Wales Apprenticeship Matching Service allows you to search for the latest apprenticeships and apply online.

The Civil Service Fast Track Apprenticeship Scheme offers applicants a 2 year programme in variety of sectors within the Civil Service
